Ken Lightheart MD FACC

Like many, Ken decided to become a doctor because he wanted to help others. He always jokes that he became a Cardiologist because of his last name, and they wouldn’t let him do anything else in medicine. But, to him, Cardiology makes sense with how his brain approaches problems. Ken can logically investigate a patient’s symptoms, and then confirm the presence of a problem through various diagnostic tests. Also, generally, he can help patients feel better and live longer. He is a general cardiologist but is most interested in the interpretation of the ultrasound and stress test studies patients have performed. Obviously, accurate and timely interpretation of these tests provides the important information needed for patients and their doctors.

The Idaho Heart Institute is an incredible practice to be a part of. We have a committed and experienced group of doctors and providers that practice state-of-the-art medical care in a relatively small community. It is pretty amazing what we are able to accomplish for our patients here so they do not have to travel long distances to get the care they need.

Ken’s passion is helping patients really understand their symptoms, diagnosis and therapy. When they understand the reason for a medication or procedure, it makes it easier for them to trust his recommendations and their care. He is driven in his job each day by a desire to get the right diagnosis and then being able to help a patient feel better and live longer.
