Pack in Advance

When the baby is coming, there is often little, if any, time to think about what you’ll need to bring to the hospital. Make sure to plan ahead and pack your hospital bag early so that when the time comes, you’ll be ready. Here are some common items that are necessary, or just nice, to have as you bring your child into the world:

For Mom

  • Identification, insurance card, and any other hospital paperwork
  • Toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, hairbrush, makeup, etc.
  • Nursing Bra
  • Soothing nipple gel
  • Breast Pads
  • Nursing Pillow
  • Robe that opens from the front
  • Any of your favorite pillows from home
  • Reading Material
  • Hard Candies to eat during labor
  • Back Massager
  • Hair Tie or something to keep your hair back
  • An outfit to wear home. Remember that you won’t be back to pre-pregnancy weight, so choose something that fit you in your second trimester.
